Only a few artists cut such imposing stage presence as John McCoy, also known as Big Bad Bald Bearded Bass Basher. Most people know him from the stint with GILLAN but that gig could be no more than a footnote in McCoy's musical biography which encompasses such diverse styles as fusion, progressive rock and punky heavy metal.

A showman, multi-instrumentalist (cello, horns, guitar, drums…and upright) and beloved mainstay on the British metal scene since the 1970s, John has anchored numerous ensembles, some under his own name, and most notably in the service of Ian Gillan sans Deep Purple and with the late, great guitarist Bernie Torme.
